Rock Band Unplugged for PSP
Content: I played Rock Band Unplugged for PSP. Well, it did not require a small plastic guitar.

Set for release in June, Unplugged will come with all the attributes of the four players playing music, although the gameplay is obviously very different when it is modified for the handheld console Sony. In the PSP version, the four musical parts are displayed on the screen: You go back and between them, playing all at once.

How is this possible? Each song is divided into short sentences of a few notes each. Perfectly nail a sentence, and that part of the song will start playing itself for a while so you can go to the next section. The game shows you what part of the jump in order to keep your score is a perfect combo.

There is a bit of a learning curve, but once you have the control down, Unplugged offers a musical experience that feels quite different from the development of the gaming house, while maintaining its own appeal.

Longtime fans of Rock Band maker Harmonix Music Systems has already realized that Unplugged is actually a return to the frequency and amplitude, the PlayStation 2 developer created when Guitar Hero was just a twinkle in Alex Rigopulos Harmonix CEO eyes. It feels a bit like the amplitude, and I know because I just went back and had the old game for a spin to refresh my memory.

That's all there: Jumping between the "tracks", which define each part of a song, have to nail every part of the sentence before playing himself, scoring combo is moves by jumping to the right lane immediately after completing a sentence. Only now you play rock songs like "Buddy Holly" and "More Than a Feeling" and some tracks will be available exclusively on the PSP this game first, before displaying on the console of Rock Band download store.

Exclusive songs include:

* 3 Doors Down - Kryptonite "
* AFI - "Miss Murder"
* Alice in Chains - "Would?"
* Audioslave - "Essence"
* Black Tide - Show Me the Way "
* Blink-182 - "What's My Age Again"
* Freezepop - Less Talk More Rokk "
* Jackson 5 - "ABC"
* Tenacious D - "Rock Your Socks"

Rock Band Unplugged for PSP lets you play the drum, vocal, guitar and bass tracks for 40 songs using the buttons on the handheld console.

As I said, there is certainly a learning curve. To flip between all four channels, you use the buttons L and R. To reach the red, yellow, green and blue notes, you use the left arrow, up arrow, triangle and circle buttons on the PSP. While six buttons, you must alternate between rapid succession in the fire. It is more difficult than it may seem.

In fact, I was not the biggest fan of the amplitude, as I thought it was a bit too chaotic and did not really replicate the experience of playing a song. In some respects, Unplugged fixes. You have a good amount of time to move from one lane to another when you are stringing together a combo, so that the feeling of being lost and not knowing what to play is reduced a little.

But the gameplay is still disjointed you flip on the part of the game. When you play the bass, the track sounds low stronger than everything else - he did not really feel that you are listening to the song the way it is intended. Sometimes, during the essential parts of a song, Unplugged decline in four lanes, a sentence based on the structure and you play a long solo. For me, it re-focused my attention on the song rather than the parts.

I enjoyed my time with Unplugged, even if I play was limited to only a few songs. I'm curious to see how the game is on the long term, and how difficult it is when the notes start coming fast and furious. It will be available on PSP in June 9th

Sony PSP 5.50 Firmware Update DetailsContent: The next firmware update for the handheld console Sony brings with it a series of changes aimed at making shopping for downloadable content and follow the latest news PSP-centric easier for players. Dvd to flash converter)
The key to these changes is the introduction of a board of information similar to that found on the PlayStation 3rd Counsel presents news and information in a scrolling ticker bar on the top right corner of the handheld when players are connected to the Internet. avi to flv)
In addition, the update allows players to more easily search for the downloadable content and updates for their games through the pocket of the Cross Media Bar (XMB). If a player is connected to the 'net, by clicking on the triangle button while a game of the icon is automatically highlighted additional search for the title. flv to walkman)
5.5 also brings with it changes to the management console's memory system and its navigation capabilities on the Web:
* Memory Stick improvements - You will be able to create and to access sub-folders on your Memory Stick PRO Duo for music, videos and photos. In addition, the space required to download a file from PlayStation Store to your Memory Stick has been reduced significantly. * Trend Micro trial - the Internet browser of the PSP is a very useful tool for monitoring your favorite Web sites to go, and we teamed up with experts in Internet security from Trend Micro to the experience of Web browsing safer and more secure. Does PSP Hier Work?

Does PSP Hier Work?Content: Is a replacement for the Sony PSP in the works? The rumor mill says is underway. (flv to walkman)
When the Sony PSP was first reviewed, there are almost four years is not only an excellent player, but the best portable media player to appear at that time. Thus, the unit has been good, he held that this noble position until the iPod touch has appeared in the fall of 2007. Even today, the Sony PSP is a fine, respectable in its own operations, even against the best units of the touchscreen. avi to flv)
Despite the updates, which saw the introduction of the PSP 3000 last August, sales of the unit fell sharply. So much so that business leaders use the argument of blame against the blatant piracy that the only reason for poor sales (an issue that somehow does not seem to hinder competitors cause PSP Nintendo DS and the iPod touch / iPhone). flv to xbox)
Sony certainly does not want his foot in the market for portable game players, especially if one considers the successes achieved during the first Sony PSP on the market. Increased competition confirms the need for a complete overhaul of the system. So we really come? We do not know. flv to ericsson)
However, we can not say if the PSP 3000 is a legitimate successor to the PlayStation Portable or just a fan model. What we can say is that it is really convincing, especially because it reduces the footprint of the unit that corresponds to something better in a pocket.
If this is the new portable Sony should we learn more about it in the fall as the holiday season, wind speed.(flv_to blackberry)

Prevent Bad Battery

Prevent Bad Battery
Content: What is a bad battery?

Most of the so-called bad batteries is caused by improper use of (physical damage is not the scope of our discussion) the specific circumstances of the next

I: intermediate cell damage checkpoint. (The fundamental reasons: detection of point can not have a pulse voltage, pulse voltage instability or generated) power at this time between pen-level test was also voltage "+""-". Specific conditions:

1. Boot after the flash on the screen and off, using DC power access, boot into the power management interface and found that 100% battery power

2. Recharging can not, after the orange plug in DC power supply look after lights out again, and then reboot the machine for green power into the power management interface, battery power 0%, cut show finished charging

II: Internal media damage, this time between the voltage level detection "+""-", shown as "0."

PS: For more than two kinds of methods to deal with the situation the situation is said to be a repair, if there is such a bad-hand batteries, not thrown away, such as maturity of the technology beyond repair, you can get repair JS Office

Rechargeable lithium battery generally able to release 300-500 times. The best part of the lithium battery discharge, and not fully discharged, and to minimize the risk of regular full discharge. Once a battery production line, the clock began to move. Regardless of whether you use the service life of lithium batteries in two to three years only. A decline in battery capacity is due to oxidation-induced increase in internal resistance (which is the main reason for the decline in battery capacity). Finally, the cell resistance will reach a certain point, even though the battery fully charged at this time, but can not release the battery power has been stored.
(flv to xbox)

Lithium batteries is the speed of the aging temperature and charge state determined. High charge state and the increase in temperature accelerated the decline in battery capacity.

If possible, as far as possible to 40% battery charge in a cool place to place. This will save in the long term battery operation of its own protection circuit. If the fully charged battery will be placed in a high temperature, which will cause great damage to the battery. (So when we use a fixed power supply when the battery is full charge at this time, and temperature is generally between 25-30 °C, which would damage the battery, causing the decline in capacity). (flv_to blackberry)

Although the use of notebook computers, the high temperature will damage the battery. However, after the battery removed, the use of fixed power supply there will be some danger, the battery package of dust and moisture will cause damage to the battery, so manufacturers are generally warned not to remove the battery. And then for a period of time you will need to be replaced after the battery, this is the case, manufacturers are very happy about.

PSP Battery Maintenance Methods

Content: Today there are generally accepted method of battery maintenance and use of perspective is as follows:

1. Should be avoided completely discharge (using the black power)(flv_to blackberry)

(avi to flv)

2. The regular charge and discharge of lithium batteries, do not put to use when charging or external power supply, while the use of edge charge, or charge after the completion of the continued use of external, battery will not result in additional wear and tear.(flv to ericsson)

2. A long time when not in use, lithium batteries should be removed, placed in a cool dry place. Must not be frozen, to prevent water erosion. On the high temperature to avoid the use of the car. Such as the preservation time, the battery charge to 40% in place(flv to xbox)

3. As a notebook user, if most of the time is the use of fixed power, remove the battery can be placed in the shade, but this is only out of the battery such as temperature, humidity and other environmental improvements. As the PSP is equipped with batteries to use an external battery power will not result in additional harm. And out of portable and protection of the battery cover, the idea of metal contacts, it is recommended not to use an external power supply, frequent demolition of the battery.
(flv to walkman)

4. To avoid the purchase of spare lithium batteries for storage, because even if the battery is not used, and their life is lost in nature, and therefore the survival of the limited battery time, maximizing the use of value is the embodiment of the battery, rather than theory to all sorts of unrealistic and used to torture their own entertainment PSP.(Dvd to flash converter)

5. Not to completely run out of battery after charging

6. Charging time not too long, a maximum of three hours (two hours under normal circumstances can be full of 20 points)

7 Do not hang up a long time, and some students in order to boot convenient and often hang up in the state of PSP, I do not know so well is very dangerous, the battery in the hang time of low power consumption, it is prone to over-discharge damage to the case of battery (resulting in not charging "

8 charger DC out-side after the first, and then pull AC side, is prohibited only AC-side out (my first piece of the battery is so bad, according to my observation, this state is a slight discharge, and long battery positive lead to damage)

9. Recharging equipment to use the original machine, cut the misuse of dual-use USB + Charging line (I have experienced burning with USB battery charger line situation, perhaps the first two no problem, but perhaps in your next USB charging plug, you will find bright orange light went out after about the legendary -- burning batteries)

10. If time does not use PSP, the battery fully charged to come up with the machine and then save, re-use before charging, and after full.

Dissidia: Final Fantasy

Hands up anyone who thought Square Enix would ever release a fighting game
made up completely of Final Fantasy characters? Okay, so maybe the
DreamFactory-developed Ehrgeiz hinted at it, but I honestly didn't see this
coming. Dissidia offers players the chance to fight as either the lead hero
or villain from Final Fantasy I through to Final Fantasy X, in full real-time
bouts a million miles away from the series' turn-based staple. Time to see
whether Squall's Gunblade mastery really is a match for the Buster Sword-
wielding Cloud.

Unlike the original Super Smash Bros. excuse of
"they're fighting dolls", Dissidia's explanation for the Final Fantasy cast
being in the same universe is more sinister. Chaos, the god of discord, and
Cosmos, the god of harmony, have been fighting for an eternity within the
Dissidia universe. In a bid to destroy Cosmos, Chaos sneakily imports all his
favourite antagonists from the Final Fantasy games - with the dark army they
subsequently build tipping the balance greatly in his favour. With no option
left but to rip off Chaos's idea, Cosmos retaliates by summoning all the
manically depressed protagonists from the same games in order to settle the
score once and for all.

Rather than the face-to-face fighting style of
Tekken and Street Fighter, bouts in Dissidia take place in open 3D arenas
similar to Power Stone - but without all the Flamethrowers and Hammers.
Players can lock on and off their opponent with the left trigger and run
across the arena with the analogue stick. The four face buttons are allocated
to Brave attack, HP attack, jump and context-sensitive environment
manoeuvres, which might make more sense in Tony Hawk's, but basically deals
with all your wall-running and ledge-grinding.

The right trigger,
meanwhile, is your obligatory Guard, but as a guard state can't be held it
works in effect more like a parry. Guard can also be used with the face
buttons for more advanced moves. Guard and jump will execute a dodge
manoeuvre which, if timed correctly, will allow you to completely evade an
enemy attack for a swift counter.

The EX burst attacks are a definite
highlight.

Unlike most conventional fighters, Dissidia's Brave
and HP attack system offers a genuinely fresh approach for KO enthusiasts.
Each combatant begins a fight with a certain amount of BP (Brave Points) -
indicated by a number above the health bar. By performing Brave attacks the
player can steal BP from the enemy's gauge and add it to their own. Also, if
through sustained Brave attacks the player brings the opponents BP total to
zero, they will send the opponent into Break status and receive a massive BP
bonus.

The point of accumulating all this BP is the HP attack. The
amount of damage dealt by a HP attack is equal to the player's pooled Brave
Points - with a successful hit resetting the attacking player's BP to zero
for a short time. This lends Dissidia a very tactical style of play because a
full health bar is meaningless if your opponent's BP is in the high
thousands.

Working in tandem to the BP system is the EX gauge (you
weren't expecting a Final Fantasy fighter to be simple, were you?). Your
opponent will drop tiny EX orbs if you combo them through chained attacks
which, when collected, will slightly increase your EX total. EX cores will
provide a more dramatic boost and spawn in various locations across the
arenas. Once the EX gauge is maxed your character will be able to enter EX
mode for a short time.

In EX mode Cloud will ditch his rusty old Buster
Sword and replace it with Ultima Weapon, gaining the rather annoying ability
to Guard Crush (rendering guards useless). Tina's take on EX is turning into
her naked Esper form, complete with the ability to combo her magic attacks
and glide. Other highlights include Jecht's transformation into Final Aeon
and Golbeza's summoning of the Shadow Dragon. In EX mode around half the
characters will also slowly regain their lost health, Regen style.

Once the final Shade Impulse chapter has been completed, the
bonus Distant Glory chapters will open up. Here Shantotto from FFXI and
Gabranth from FFXII can be unlocked.

Fleeing from a similarly
skilled opponent who's achieved EX is often a sound strategy, as the worst
thing you can let them do is land an HP attack. Connecting a HP attack while
in EX Mode will launch your character's ultimate EX burst attack. These work
similarly to the Limit Breaks in Final Fantasy VII (or if you want to be
pedantic, perhaps even the Desperation Moves from Final Fantasy VI) and
require a short quick-time sequence to successfully charge - i.e. mashing
circle, matching displayed inputs, etc. The mayhem that ensues after a
successful EX burst is all kinds of Omnislash over-the-top. Exdeath uses the
power of the Void to crush his opponent in a gravity field and Sephiroth
hurls his hapless victim into a Supernova. Basically, if you manage to land a
perfect EX burst on your opponent with a ruinously high BP total, it's quite
likely you've just won the match.

Dissidia's graphical presentation is
in stark contrast to the gritty Crisis Core and has more of a Kingdom Hearts
feel (hardly surprising with Tetsuya Nomura onboard). The arenas draw upon
the previous Final Fantasy games and include the Crystal World from FFIX and
the Magitek Research Facility from FFVI. All have a certain vibrancy which,
despite their relative lack of destructible architecture, helps personify the
titled Fantasy appeal.

Super Stardust Portable

Super Stardust is one of the most concentrated shoot-'em-ups ever made. There are no breaks in the action, no cut-scenes, never a moment to pause, to marvel at the firework display of particle effects exploding around you, or even to pay much attention to your current score. Your tiny ship, caught in a maelstrom of asteroids and alien attackers, weaves through a constantly shifting maze, firing one of three different bullet types in all directions, collecting pick-ups, deploying smart bombs and dashing through the ever-encroaching clusters of obstacles. The result is a breathtaking flurry of twitch-gaming, a scramble to steady your disorientation amongst the hubbub, and a constant prayer that the sum of your skill and luck will be enough to overcome the odds that are so overtly stacked against you.

Originally released on PlayStation Network for PS3, Super Stardust HD is the closest Sony's console has to a Geometry Wars. While the game lacks some of its rival's finesse, not to mention its narrow but deep design, perfectly pitched difficulty and always on-screen high-score challenge, it nevertheless holds its own, maintaining its position as the strongest shooter on PSN even 18 months later. But the move to PSP hardware, with its different control configuration, demanded tweaks: changes that will upset the muscle memory that fans have spent so long developing.

The handheld's analogue stick still controls the movement of the ship, but 360-degree fire has been reduced to eight directions. Each face button, pressed on its own, directs your stream of fire toward that side of a compass. Used in conjunction with another button you can fire across the diagonals, but whichever way you look at it this is a noticeable limitation of the original's analogue precision.

'Super Stardust Portable' Screenshot 1

If the game's difficulty is proving too much of a barrier then there's the option to downgrade to 'Causal', just so you know the developer thinks you're a pansy.

To help recreate the wobbly feel of 360-degree control, the developer's introduced a double-tap function that momentarily spreads the fire arc, while holding a button down will cause one of the three weapons to spin in a circle around your ship, and together these are neat concessions that reduce the sense of interactive devolution. There's certainly been a loss of aiming precision, but it would be a stretch for any player to blame death on the imprecision of the new control scheme, which is perfectly serviceable.

The game's overarching structure is straightforward. Five levels represented by planets are each broken down into five stages, offering play 25 areas, which must be cleared in a set order. To begin with, only the first planet is open for play: you must clear all of its challenges before the next one in sequence unlocks. There is no opportunity to save your progress - the game follows orthodox shoot-'em-up rules requiring players to restart from the beginning each time - so progress is hard won, which turns out to be a good thing in an otherwise-slight experience. Almost all of the game's longevity comes from trying to inch your way deeper into its levels and the high difficulty throughout demands a perfected technique. If you manage to complete all five worlds in one sitting then the game, in the Raiden tradition, will loop back to the start at an even higher difficulty level.

Final Fantasy VII comes to PS3 and PSP with new improvements

Final Fantasy VII International include extras such as character art and anecdotes, as well as new FMV sequences.

Please come to the States!

Final Fantasy VII International was released today on PSN in Japan by Square-Enix, and updating of the game includes a number of changes to the original version(flv to xbox).

First and foremost is the addition of new FMV sequences show the weapon of the enemy, and a sequence that gives an idea allegedly Cloud in the past. Also included in the release is a collection of FFVII illustrations, maps, anecdotes and bits of information about the world of Final Fantasy VII. Hope this one comes to the States, we are already under way(dvd to flash), to miss the demo for Final Fantasy XIII.

Child found porn on PSP

Alcides Segui
BRADENTON - It's a Christmas one end of Bay Area mothers said they should have left under the tree: a Play Station Portable she says hundreds of pornographic images.

Like most children, Eliso Tovar loves video games. Tamatha when his mother bought a Playstation Portable for late Christmas gift to a Wal-Mart in Manatee County.

What happened next to shock the whole family. Saturday at the 6-year-old boy, was it for the first time, he says a naked woman appeared on the screen saver. Fearing he would be justified, Tovar ran to his mother crying(dvd to flash).

"I showed my mother and I ran to my room ... she said I'm not in trouble," says Eliso.

Tamatha said to have found a memory card inside the PSP containing hundreds of pornographic photos. She said that it was not hers and it is in the PSP before she opened the box. Tamatha called the store who want to speak to a manager about the problem.

"I explained the situation and his response was, and put the machine and we let your son choose a new game as I was, no I do not think you heard what I said "said Tamatha.

Tovar said she thinks that someone has returned the PSP and left in the memory chip(avi to flv).

FOX 13 talked to a spokesman for Wal-Mart, and she said they are concerned about the situation and looking into what happened. Sony Computer Entertainment America made the PSP, we have tried to contact them for comments, but they were outside the office.

Sony patents PSP-controlled spy car

There are all sorts of super spy gadgets, buy your detective, but if they are not there for that, Sony has something new in May you want to check. According to a site called Siliconera, Sony filed a patent for a remote-controlled car using the PSP as an interface(flv to blackberry).

It is equipped with a camera to feed video to the PSP, users will be able to transfer images to a website if they want. But that's not all. The patent refers to a set of augmented reality. The game recognizes real objects as elements in the racing game, so basically, you build your own track or things around the house(flv to walkman)

It will certainly help sales of the PSP. This should be done and fast.

PSP Music Downloads Made Easy

There are a variety of portable gadgets that now offer mp3 music playing. In fact, the extent of this new technological pursuit has become a big hit to many markets, young and old. Because of the popularity of these gadgets, resources on file downloading boomed in an instant.

PSP is one of the greatest gadgets today that features a music enhancement experience, as it integrates it with gaming. It gives the PSP owner a chance to optimize his or her gadget with easy music listening, complete with quality earphones that come from Sony. One can change it however, by their own choice of earphones or headphones as desired. PSP Music Downloads may be acquired from top sites that may have large databases of songs that may be transferred to your PSP.

But before checking them out(avi to flv), you may want to know how to transfer files from your computer to your PSP. Here are some steps:

  1. Download music files and make sure that they are in these formats: .mp3, ATRAC3plus, .mp4, .wav or .wma. Music may also come from UMD’s (Universal Media Discs). If you are using Memory Stick Pro Duo, not all of these formats may work or be playable with your PSP.

  2. If you already have your music files at hand, you may now transfer them to you PSP through: USB or Memory Stick. If you are going to use a USB cable, all you have to do is plug it into your computer and PSP. If you are going to use a Memory Stick transfer, just make sure you have a Memory Card Reader at hand(flv to blackberry/.

  3. If they have been successfully connected and you can see your PSP in the directories available, open the PSP File System. Make a folder, PSP, or any of your desire, and make subfolders inside of it, such as Music, Photos, Videos, etc.

  4. Look for the files that you wish to transfer and copy them into the applicable folders. As so with this example, transfer your music files into the Music folder.

  5. You may now disconnect your PSP from the computer and play your music files as you wish.

PSP Music Download Sites

There are a variety of sites that specialize in PSP Music Downloads. These sites include PSPBlender.com, pspmusicdownloads.com, mypspcenter.com, any many more general file download sites(flv to ericsson/.

PSPBlender.com is a popular site for PSP Music Downloads, as it has a comprehensive database of trinkets for the PSP, including movie, game and music files. It claims to have a million file ready for download by their treasured members. What’s great is that this is not a pay-per-download site, all you have to do is pay the one time membership and you have access to everything that they have to offer. This site has been bookmarked by many PSP users as it delivers to their demands.

Pspmusicdownloads.com is another great site that offers an organized listing of music downloads by genre. You may also use the optimized music search engine to find your favorite song within the site. It also offers the same services for a one-time fee.

Another great site is mypspcenter.com, which offers unlimited music downloads for your PSP music needs. There are many other general download sites that offer psp music for everyone, but these sites are specialized for PSP Music Downloads. All you have to is look around and look for some in the Internet, and you will get as many results to maximize your PSP experience.

Sony PSP: The games to look forward to

How many more to go? That's almost certainly a question the games are going to have to help answer. With the focus now switching to the months beyond launch, people want more things to show off on their shiny screens. What's more, where the launch titles may have been forgiven for the odd load delay (or the odd dozen of 30-second load delays), future games will have to do better. So what should we be looking forward to(avi to flv)?

Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories

Top of most PSP owners' (or prospective owners') Must Buy list is Rockstar's PSP-exclusive GTA, a game set in the GTA III playground of Liberty City and starring mob boss Tony Capriani from the same game. Curiously, though, it's not Rockstar North doing the production duties on this key title, but Rockstar Leeds; the team responsible for porting Midnight '75 second load delays' Club III.

Reasons to be excited:

  1. It's a proper, all-new 3D GTA with a new story on a handheld.
  2. It's not a rubbish port of the old top down versions(flv to ericsson)/.
  3. It'll take ages to finish
  4. It'll have a cracking soundtrack.

Reasons to be doubtful:

  1. Queston marks remain over just how much input Rockstar North has had in the project: will it be as involving or as funny?
  2. It's by Rockstar Leeds: will they get the loading times sorted out?
  3. Can the PSP cope with a free roaming environment?
  4. All that streaming data will kill the battery life.

Pro Evolution Soccer

'Sony PSP: The games to look forward to' Screenshot pes

One of the few games that many gamers will be happy to buy two copies of, such is level of reverence and anticipation over Konami's stab at porting its glorious footy franchise over to the PSP. With full wireless multiplayer support for up to four players, we're expecting it to be one of the few PSP titles that people will actively go out of their way to play with other PSP owning mates. Commuting may never be the same again.

Reasons to be excited

  1. Christ on a bike: it's PES! On! A! Handheld!
  2. Wireless multiplayer for up to four player action. You need never go without a PES fix even on The Commute From Hell. Yay!
  3. It'll be proper widescreen PES for the first time ever.
  4. It's the best footy game ever made.

Reasons to be doubtful

  1. Konami's handheld footy attempts have been mixed.
  2. The controls may take a while to get used to - no dual shoulder buttons for a start.
  3. Load times could be iffy, given Konami's inexperience on the PSP, but there's always sleep mode, eh?
  4. PES at its best is in multiplayer - how easy is it going to be to find pals to play against on your daily commute?

Football Manager

'Sony PSP: The games to look forward to' Screenshot fm

Another rare title that the die-hard won't object to buying twice so that they don't ever have to be without their fix. Sports Interactive, like Konami with PES, is the undisputed master of the genre and the franchise's long overdue debut on a handheld system is truly something to celebrate, so long as they get it right.

Reasons to be cheerful

  1. It's brought to you by the same developer responsible for the PC version, ensuring it's up to the same levels of obsessive statistical detail.
  2. It'll have more leagues and teams that you know what to do with.
  3. The sheer level of control and options available will make even the most ardent football nutters head spin 720 degrees.
  4. It's one of the most insanely immersive and addictive games ever conceived, and you can now keep on playing on the bog...

Reasons to be doubtful

  1. Since when did Sports Interactive have a clue about handheld gaming?
  2. And while we're at it, ditto console gaming?
  3. Again, the load times could be horrendous, given the lack of hard disk and the PSP's dreadful track record to date.
  4. The control interface on previous console editions of ChampMan was a drag. Why not do a touch screen version? Gah!

Daxter

'Sony PSP: The games to look forward to' Screenshot daxter

A rare PSP exclusive, bringing gamers the best of both worlds: a cracking little slice of platforming genius, and a game you can't buy on any other platform. Although it's not actually developed by the Naughty Dog chaps, the game's script is penned by the same guy, the voiceovers are provided by the same talent, and several ex ND chaps have jumped ship to work on the game.

Reasons to be cheerful

  1. Daxter had the best lines in the Jak & Daxter games; we're expecting more dry hilarity and several concerned looking commuters as we crack up on inappropriate moments.
  2. The Jak & Daxter trilogy was arguably the best platforming series of this generation. Daxter ought to be the best handheld platformer to date.
  3. The sub games and bite sized gaming episodes ought to lend themselves well to short burst of handheld gaming.
  4. The use of Naughty Dog's tech should make the game seamless.
  5. It's exclusive to the PSP.

Reasons to be doubtful

  1. It's not Naughty Dog, so it could be a pale imitation.
  2. The constant streaming data could drain the battery.
  3. There have been way too many annual platformers over the past few years; we're a bit platformed out to be honest.

SSX On Tour

'Sony PSP: The games to look forward to' Screenshot ssx

One of Tom's favourites, this, and certain to be among his Most Played PSP titles come the end of the year. Like most of EA's games it'll be basically a straight port, which is either a Good Thing or a Bad Thing, depending on whether you're the sort of gamer that likes to keep handheld versions of games very specifically tailored to the platform. Still, it's a brand new SSX title on a handheld; surely that's something worth celebrating?

Reasons to be cheerful

  1. It'll be a pretty faithful port, meaning we can look forward to enjoying some downhill tricks on the road for the first time.
  2. It's from a team that know what it's doing.
  3. Its fast paced racing trickery gameplay is well suited to on-the-move play.

Reasons to be doubtful

  1. It's the same as the home versions, only with an inferior control system - given the choice it's going to be tough to justify buying both.
  2. EA's track record of load time crimes on the PSP is well documented.
  3. Will the frame rate be able to keep up with the action?

What else is coming soon?

FIFA 06

If EA can cure the load time headaches of its first PSP effort then FIFA could be worth a look if you prefer the glitzy licensed-based approach and easier gameplay than Pro Evo's deeper, less immediate offerings.

Burnout Legends

Said to be completely different to the soon-to-be-released Burnout Revenge, it combines the best bits of the previous three titles into one tasty morsel. With Criterion working on it the PSP will probably melt, so well worth a look if you fancy smashing cars up at insane speeds on the move.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06

Another Bramwell barnstormer, we're expecting big things from EA's second stab at Golf on the PSP. Given how superb Everybody's Golf is for handheld immediacy, we're fully expecting EA's latest to be another must-have for the system. But will you really want to buy it twice? Decisions decisions.

Prince of Persia 3

Another potentially great title which few people will really want to consider buying twice, but one that's definitely worth a look if you're in the unfortunate position of having your home-based gaming taken up by such trifling matters as having a family. Ubi's Montreal studio has pushed the PS2 further than almost anyone else, and who's to say it won't do the same for the PSP?

Peter Jackson's King Kong

Arguably a game that should definitely be experienced on a home console rather than on a train, but still promises to be an absolute corker of a game(dvd to flash video converter) on whichever system you get around to playing it on. If the presence of a PSP version opens it up to an even bigger audience, then that's alright by us, but don't buy it twice for gawd's sake.

Sony's PSP Wows, but Only if You Stick to the Games

Sony has often won big by thinking small. Portable gizmos such as the Walkman, the Discman and the Handicam helped make this company the consumer electronics power it is today. But until now, it hasn't tried to run that play with its most successful product(flv to blackberry) of the past decade, the PlayStation line of video-game machines.

That changes Thursday, when Sony introduces the PlayStation Portable -- PSP for short. This $250 device is Sony's answer to Nintendo's Game Boy and DS handhelds. It also represents yet another try by Sony to get into the portable-media market Apple's iPod owns(flv to walkman).

The PSP does only one of those jobs well, and you can probably guess which one. As a portable game machine, it's a peerless piece of work, combining sharp graphics, deep game play and easy online connectivity. As a multimedia gadget, however, it's a dud.

The PSP's sleek appearance backs up its gaming orientation. This booklet-sized device -- 6 5/8 inches by 2 7/8 inches by 15/16 inches, weighing 11 ounces with headphones and remote control -- carries a similar layout of buttons to that of a PlayStation 2 controller, plus a sharp, wide-format color display. At about 4 1/4 inches wide, with a 480-by-272 resolution, it's larger than other game players' displays and almost as sharp as those on handheld organizers.

The sum of these parts looks just different enough from other portable widgets -- and cool enough in its own right -- to draw reactions from passerby that range from intrigued to awestruck.

The PSP's breakthrough feature, however, can't be seen from outside. Its WiFi receiver allows PSPs to link up for peer-to-peer wireless gaming or, if within range of a separate WiFi access point, competition across the Internet. That second option is absent from the PSP's chief competitor, Nintendo's $150 DS. (Web access would have been a pleasant bonus but there is no browser available on the PSP.)

Setting up a PSP for Internet game play is harder than necessary, thanks to Sony's awkward interface for entering the lengthy alphanumeric encryption key most WiFi access points require.

Otherwise, though, multiplayer mayhem on the PSP is laughably simple. Select "multiplayer" from a game's menu, choose between local or Internet-wide contests (in a fit of jargon, the PSP calls them "ad hoc" and "infrastructure"), then wait for opponents to show up.

In The Post's newsroom, two PSPs joined the same game in seconds and maintained the connection up to about 110 feet away. Two Internet-hosted games were almost as quick to set up and showed no signs of lag, the slow response time that can gum up online(avi to flv) games.

You can also play PSP titles solo, of course, but it's just more fun to compete against other people. You don't get the same sublime sense of satisfaction when the car you incinerate with a hail of missiles is driven by the computer instead of your co-worker.

PS3 Fireware 2.7 with Text Chat and video features released

Good news for PlayStation 3 users. Sony has released firmware 2.7 update for PS3. This new firmware update has that allows communication on the PlayStation Network and couple of other features.
Text chat is a form of instant messaging developed specifically for the PSN. The 2.7 firmware update brings text chat feature that allows chatting with up to 15 friends in 3 chatrooms on the PlayStation Network. Users can take help of wireless keypad, onscreen keyboard or any compatible peripherals.
Text Chat can be accessed during gameplay. A Friends List appears in the XMB (XrossMediaBar) and friends can be sorted by their online status. Now users can attach up to 3MB files and send them to PSN friends. Friends can be sorted according to their online status, with those who are currently online at the top and those who have recently been online below them.
As per Eurogamer, a new Internet Search option is also included for game searches. There is also a new copy-paste function for copying text from the web browser to PS3's text entry. For reducing the volume changes between the songs a dynamic volume normalizer is also added.
Files stored externally can be returned to the PS3's internal hard drive for playback and videos purchased for the PSP can be transferred to the PS3 for playback. Volume levels can also now be adjusted in order to prevent sudden audio spikes during gameplay. Get you own PSP videos from YouTube.
It seems that a recurring topic is the lack of voice chat but, put simply, be patient. This update is a stepping stone to cross-game voice chat. Sony may be behind on features the Xbox 360 had from launch, but PSN is a free service and the quality of the PS3 makes waiting for a few cosmetic additions worth it. The system will be growing long after the 360 has stagnated.

More PSP Games on PSN

The PSP may not have lived up to its potential as the next “it toy,” but “Resistance: Retribution” hints at what this machine could and should have been for gamers. I love my PSP, but even the most diehard Sony nut would admit that the low flow of games for the handheld has been downright depressing lately. “Resistance: Retribution” is a fantastic release that makes you wonder why there aren’t more like it.
The digital distribution of games has become somewhat of the "norm" with most gaming systems these days. There are some games for PSP on the PSN for download, but not a lot. Sony's Playstation marketing head John Koller spoke out about how they are looking to ramp up the amount of content on the PSP store for you PSP owners out there.

Koller mentioned they will start ramping this up in the back half of this year. Why the back half? "Much of it has to do with the development cycle. A lot of the big games that we announced at Destination PlayStation a few weeks ago had UMD (versions) that will be launching in the second half of the year. And marrying those launches with the digital versions of those launches obviously makes development sense. We're looking at a wide range of content throughout the year, but the back half will be heavier than the first." said Koller.

It was indicated that they wanted to distribute PSP games simultaneously as a digital download and in UMD format. It looks as if they are getting ready to phase out the UMD and get people used to downloading their games? Koller talked about how they are going to be increasing the amount of PSone titles on the Playstation network as well.

When asked about the rumored PSP2 without the UMD drive, Koller said, "I can't really comment on that other than to reiterate the fact that the digital side of things for us on PSP is really important. With the PSP-3000, it's a product that can either download content or use UMD. And I think that showcases our view of the content world over the next few years. PSP is a high-margin platform for us. And we look at the big rush of software that's coming as driving a lot of business. Whether it's sales on UMD or digital, we're happy with both."
