PS3 Fireware 2.7 with Text Chat and video features released

Good news for PlayStation 3 users. Sony has released firmware 2.7 update for PS3. This new firmware update has that allows communication on the PlayStation Network and couple of other features.
Text chat is a form of instant messaging developed specifically for the PSN. The 2.7 firmware update brings text chat feature that allows chatting with up to 15 friends in 3 chatrooms on the PlayStation Network. Users can take help of wireless keypad, onscreen keyboard or any compatible peripherals.
Text Chat can be accessed during gameplay. A Friends List appears in the XMB (XrossMediaBar) and friends can be sorted by their online status. Now users can attach up to 3MB files and send them to PSN friends. Friends can be sorted according to their online status, with those who are currently online at the top and those who have recently been online below them.
As per Eurogamer, a new Internet Search option is also included for game searches. There is also a new copy-paste function for copying text from the web browser to PS3's text entry. For reducing the volume changes between the songs a dynamic volume normalizer is also added.
Files stored externally can be returned to the PS3's internal hard drive for playback and videos purchased for the PSP can be transferred to the PS3 for playback. Volume levels can also now be adjusted in order to prevent sudden audio spikes during gameplay. Get you own PSP videos from YouTube.
It seems that a recurring topic is the lack of voice chat but, put simply, be patient. This update is a stepping stone to cross-game voice chat. Sony may be behind on features the Xbox 360 had from launch, but PSN is a free service and the quality of the PS3 makes waiting for a few cosmetic additions worth it. The system will be growing long after the 360 has stagnated.
