Well, withthe laest software update, it basially has the same home menu as the ps3. Sorry, Custom Firmware is the only way to use emulators and such. But honestly the newest CFW is pretty safe, and even if you brick your psp (very unlikely) you can unbrick it very easily. I say get CFW, you won't regret it.
