Well, withthe laest software update, it basially has the same home menu as the ps3. If you have a ps3, youll know where to go, if you don't, just get the update, and then go along the menus to... erm... either its online or accont, and then itll say create a psnacount or something Then go on that, enter your email address, choose a password, enter your address, and then choose an avatar. Then your ready to go!

Sorry, Custom Firmware is the only way to use emulators and such. But honestly the newest CFW is pretty safe, and even if you brick your psp (very unlikely) you can unbrick it very easily. I say get CFW, you won't regret it.
